Senkai

One advertisement opens one hour. When the hour closes, the server divides that hour's points among everyone who took part.

Senkai is an Android app from Senkai Network Private Limited. You watch one advertisement to take part in an hour. Nothing is credited while the hour runs. When it closes, your share is worked out on the server and shown in the app.

Senkai points have no cash value today. They will become Senkai tokens when the mainnet launches, and are intended to have value then. No date, no price and no amount is promised, and a token can lose all its value. Your share gets smaller as more people take part in the same hour.

The Senkai app's home screen during an hour: a points balance of 0 points, the sentence 'In-app points only. They have no cash value', a card reading 'Your hour is running. No amount exists yet. It is revealed when the hour settles, not while it runs', a countdown of 59:45, and the server's start, end and reveal times.

How an hour works

Nothing is credited while the hour is running.

You watch one advertisement. That opens a single hour, one at a time, and it cannot be renewed or extended. While it runs, no amount exists anywhere: not on your phone, and not on the server. When the hour closes, that hour's points are divided among everyone who took part, and your share is worked out then.

  1. The advert is verifiedGoogle confirms to the server that the advertisement was watched to the end. A message from the app alone is never enough.
  2. The hour runsSixty minutes, timed by the server. No amount exists yet, so none is shown.
  3. The hour closesAt the server's time, whatever your phone's clock says.
  4. The points are dividedThat hour's fixed pool, shared among everyone who took part, by a rule that is published.
  5. Your share is shownIn the app, about an hour after you tapped. Until then it says the amount is not decided yet.

Closing the app, losing signal or changing your phone's clock cannot move any of these times. The server decides all of them. Another hour needs another advertisement, by your choice: nothing renews automatically, there is no streak, and there is no penalty for stopping.

The arithmetic

We will not guess how much. Here is how it is decided.

Each hour has a fixed pool, set years in advance by a schedule that configuration cannot change. The pool is divided among the people who took part in that hour. More people, smaller shares. Fewer people, larger shares, up to a cap. Nobody is turned away, and nothing is created by demand.

The figures on the mechanism page were produced by running the same code that does the dividing on the server, not typed by hand, and this site's own checks compare them against that code's published test vectors.

Before you decide

Read this before you install anything.

Your share gets smaller as more people take part

The pool for each hour is fixed. If twice as many people take part, each share is about half. That is arithmetic, not a policy that might change.

The amounts are small, and not knowable in advance

We will not tell you what an hour will be worth in points, because we do not know until it closes, and anyone who tells you does not either.

The points become tokens at the mainnet launch, not before

Today Senkai points have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold, exchanged, withdrawn or transferred. They will become Senkai tokens when the mainnet launches, and are intended to have value then. There is no token today, no price and no market; no launch date is promised. Points mined before the launch are not released all at once: they are released in the design's own fifteen-day batches, oldest first, each batch after its public review period and a 48-hour timelock, as the white paper's section on claiming describes. A token can lose all of its value.

This is a first public release

The app is offered as a file outside the Play Store, with the means to check it. Updates come as a new file on this page, not automatically. The download section below says exactly how it works and what the app collects.

In one paragraph: Ad-activated participation rewards. Users voluntarily watch a rewarded ad to activate one server-authoritative one-hour session. Rewards are variable, verified and capped. No device computation occurs, and value is not guaranteed.

What your phone is not doing

This is not mining. Your phone does no work.

People reach for the word "mining" because it is the nearest thing they know. It is the wrong word here, and we would rather say so than let it stand. The app has a button called Mine; what it does is start an hour.

Mining compared with Senkai

Your device computes, continuously.Your device computes nothing.
Your battery is the cost. The advertisement is the cost: your attention, for about thirty seconds.
The work is what earns.Google verifies that the advertisement was watched; the server does the arithmetic.
It runs in the background.Nothing runs when you are not in the app, and the hour runs on the server, not on the phone.

Get the app

The Android app, as a signed file.

The app is offered from this page as a file you install yourself, outside the Play Store. The row below says whether a file is published, and the facts beside it let you check that what you downloaded is what we published.

  • Downloadsnot published yet

The file, and how to check it

These five facts are published together or not at all. Each one comes from the signed file itself on the day it was built; none is typed from memory.

File name
not published yet
Version
not published yet
Built on
not published yet
SHA-256 of the file
not published yet
Signing certificate SHA-256
not published yet

The checksum (SHA-256, a fingerprint of the file's exact contents) tells you the file you have is the file we published, byte for byte. On a computer, open a terminal in the folder holding the file and run certutil -hashfile FILE SHA256 on Windows or shasum -a 256 FILE on a Mac, then compare the output with the value above, character by character. On a phone, some file-manager apps can show a file's SHA-256; if yours cannot, check the file on a computer first and copy it to the phone afterwards.

The signing certificate fingerprint tells you the file was signed by us and not by someone offering a copy. On a computer with Android's build tools installed, run apksigner verify --print-certs FILE and compare the SHA-256 line with the value above. Android does not show this fingerprint on the phone itself, so this check is one for a computer.

If either value differs from what is written here, do not install the file, and tell us.

What the points are, and are not

The points are called Senkai points. The app says this under your balance, in its own words: In-app points only. They have no cash value.

Today Senkai points are not a token, not a coin and not money, and cannot be bought, sold, exchanged, withdrawn or transferred. They will become Senkai tokens when the mainnet launches, and are intended to have value then; no date, no price and no amount is promised. Watching an advertisement starts a one-hour session; what that session is worth in points is decided by the server after the hour, and may be zero. Nothing renews automatically.

The app's sign-up says: You must be 16 or over.

How to install a file from a browser on Android

This file is offered outside the Google Play Store. That means no store has reviewed it, your phone will not update it by itself, and the only check that it is genuine is the one you do with the facts above. If you are not comfortable with that, wait: nothing is lost by waiting.

  1. Download. Tap the download above on the phone. Your browser may warn that this type of file can harm your device; that is Android's standard warning for every file of this kind, not a judgement about this one.
  2. Check the file against the checksum and fingerprint above, as described, or have someone with a computer do it for you.
  3. Open the file. Android asks whether to allow installs from this source, meaning your browser. Allow it for this install. You can turn that permission off again afterwards in your phone's settings.
  4. Install. Android shows the app's name, Senkai, and asks you to confirm. If Google Play Protect scans the file, let it finish.
  5. Updates do not arrive by themselves. A newer version is published as a new file on this page, with its own checksum and fingerprint. Install it over the old one; your account stays as it is because it lives on the server, not on the phone.

What the app collects

  • At sign-up: an email address, a password (kept by the server in a form that cannot be read back), a display name, your date of birth and your country. The email address is used to send you a sign-in code.
  • From your phone: a hardware attestation, which is your phone's secure hardware proving to the server that it is a real Android phone. The server refuses sign-in without it. It does not identify you by name.
  • Advertisements: Google AdMob shows the advertisements. Google's software inside the app contacts Google when an advertisement is shown, and Google tells our server when one was watched to the end. The app does not send Google your email address or your account identifier.
  • Not collected: no wallet address, no phone number, no contacts, no location, no files.

To delete your account, write to [email protected] from the email address you signed up with. Deletion is by request.

A privacy policy and terms of service are pending and will appear in the footer once published.

How to check us

You do not have to take our word for any of it.

  • The file is checkable. Its checksum and the signing certificate's fingerprint are published above, and both are produced by the file itself, not by us.
  • The arithmetic is published. The rule that divides an hour, the schedule and the worked example come from the server's own code and its test vectors. This site's checks fail if a figure on it drifts from that code.
  • This page tells nobody you visited it. No analytics, no cookies, no fonts or scripts from anyone else, no request to any other server. It works with JavaScript switched off.
  • Everything the app shows is decided on the server. A changed clock, a modified app or a rooted phone cannot alter an amount, because there is nothing on the phone to alter.
What is published, and what is not yet

What we will never do

  • Ask you to connect a wallet, or for a recovery phrase. The app has no wallet.
  • Message you first. We do not contact users; a message claiming to be us is not us.
  • Run a giveaway, a presale or an airdrop, or ask you for a payment of any kind.
  • Tell you what an hour will be worth before it closes.
  • Put a countdown, a bonus for continuing or a penalty for stopping in front of you.
